At Sortiphase, we are developing smart materials that can alter their structure at nanoscale in a process controlled by an operator. The proprietary materials leverage structural properties and cooperative transitions in macromolecular constructs to forge a powerful platform. Potent synergy of combining the platform with various fabrication methods leads to a wealth of powerful applications in biomedical research, biotechnology, and healthcare.
Our startup has already made significant strides, with several materials in various stages of development The most advanced among them is currently utilized to construct the first integrated systems, tapping into the disruptive potential of our technology. Our ambition is to develop systems that can advance biomedical research and make biologics cheaper and better.

BASE OF OPERATIONS

The company is based at the Baystate Research Facility (BRF, Springfield, MA). The BRF provides an extensive array of both basic and specialized equipment and services, catering to the diverse needs of biochemical, molecular biology, and tissue culture laboratories. This includes fume hoods, refrigerators, -20 °C and -80 °C freezers, liquid nitrogen storage, and WiFi, among other amenities. The facilities also offer access to transmission and fluorescence microscopes, flow cytometers, and multi-functional plate readers. The BRF offers a spacious, well-equipped conference room.

We outsource certain services from the Institute for Applied Life Sciences (UMass, Amherst), which provides access to scientific instruments, rapid prototyping, and bioproduction. Beyond furnishing essential equipment and laboratories, the IALS offers their staff’s assistance to perform the measurements, analysis, design, and manufacturing.
